Characters are currently exploring The Marsh. NPCs available for quests are The Ferryman, The Wraith, and The Witch.

QUESTS are tasks offered by NPCs that characters can work together to complete in order to earn special rewards. The NPCs offering quests will change from setting to setting, and each NPC will typically offer different rewards for completing their quests.

OOCly, quests are lower-impact ways players can interact with the setting and the metaplot between major game events.

To claim a quest, simply comment to the corresponding thread to let us know which characters will be participating. You should have a minimum of two players participating to claim a quest. Depending on the quest, we may have additional info for you to help you get set up, but then you're free to thread! Once the quest is complete, return here with a link to your thread, and we'll give you a rundown of the rewards.

There are no penalties for backing out of a quest after it's been claimed. If you find you aren't able to complete a quest, or simply don't want to anymore, just let us know so that we can open it back up to be claimed by someone else!

Quests refresh after each Crossing (roughly every 3 months)*, so don't be afraid to give them a try! Each character may only be an active participant in one quest at a time.

* Even if not all quests for a given setting are completed, lore details and special items will never be "lost", so don't worry too much about missing out either. Lore always finds a way. 👻

Signing up for this one - Frieda participated in the previous shard quest, and chasing lightning will be a "lovely" callback to the lightning strike that initiates a titan transformation.

Not all of the lightning storms have the potential to produce something useful, so says The Ferryman. You'll have to keep an eye out for specific kinds, and do a bit of storm-chasing out in the Dunes to catch the one you want. In order to craft the tool, the shard itself must be struck by lightning. However you want to accomplish that is up to you!

The Ferryman describes the storms in question as such:

• — A storm that turns the sky red will yield an offensive item.


• — A storm that turns the sky green will yield a defensive item.


• — A storm that turns the sky blue will yield a strategic item.

You a shard can contain the power of only one storm and you all will be given one shard each. These tools are single-use, and can be used during The Crossing. It's up to you what kind of tool you want to craft, and whether you want to brave the storms together, or separately.

Frieda will seek out a green storm for a defensive item! (They'll likely all go together and support each other, but I wanted to report in already!)

Frieda is successful in her quest! The defensive tool can be used to deter approach from the wraiths. When used, the item will create a static field around the user, kind of like one of those plasma ball things. If anything gets too close, the captured energy will leap out and deliver a minor shock. To other characters, this would feel on the level of static from a doorknob, but it seems to affect the wraiths enough to discourage them from trying to approach again. During The Crossing, this is less effective against wraiths that are particularly fixated on the user, though it would likely deter them at least a few times.

Marvellous! Seeing how Daniil will attempt the Crossing without the Ferryman's protection again and already got injured the first time around, Frieda will give the item to him (I thought I'd mention this in case it'll affect his odds of making it out in one piece!).
