CHARACTER INFORMATION

CHARACTER INFO SHEETS

Filling out the info sheet isn't required, but it is encouraged! It helps the mods personalize the game for characters wherever possible, in both big and small ways. We can't always be canon familiar, so think of it as a cheat sheet for us.

We also encourage players to take advantage of the malleability of the setting to highlight commonalities between characters & build CR, and the info sheets can be useful resources for that as well! Just be sure that before you reference something from a character's info sheet that you've cleared it with their player beforehand.

CHARACTER NAME(S): ## Include aliases, important nicknames, or real names (if your character goes by something else.) ##
CANON: ## Include a wiki link, if one exists! ##
CANON POINT: ## For reference! ##

How did your character die? ## Include as much or as little detail as you like. Include links if you think that will help! If you've AU'd your character at all, let us know. ##
Does your character's canon have its own afterlife? ## Links are great, or just give us a quick rundown of what this afterlife looks like. ##

What are some of their favorite things? ## What are small things that bring your character joy? Favorite colors, favorite foods, favorite hobbies, etc. ##
Who are some of their favorite people? ## Note for us if any of them are also dead. ##
What are they most proud of from their life? ## This is whatever they themselves would value — maybe they saved the world, but they're more proud of the cool thing they invented, for example. ##

What do they dislike? ## Again, think small. Disliked foods, least favorite weather, pet peeves, etc. ##
Do they have any enemies, or anyone they particularly hate? ## Again, let us know if any of these people are also dead. ##
What are they afraid of? ## This could be as minor as "spiders" or as existential as "being forgotten". Or both! ##
Do they have any regrets from their life? ## Anything left unfinished, or that's hard to let go of? ##

Daniil Dankovsky

[personal profile] marblenest 2025-01-11 11:50 pm (UTC)(link)
CHARACTER NAME(S): Daniil Dankovsky, The Bachelor
CANON: Pathologic 2 | wiki link
CANON POINT: Day 11

How did your character die?
AU for his death, spoilers aboundInstead of murdering the courier for his papers, Dankovsky is instead shot in the chest and subsequently dies from his wounds. The papers are then successfully delivered to Artemy Burakh after the courier seeks him out to tell Artemy about the fatal shooting.

In canon, Daniil shoots the courier dead instead. This AU is basically "what if the courier was also packing."

Does your character's canon have its own afterlife? Oh god okay so like. Pathologic series has levels of meta narrative. One of this is fourthwalling to where, in the first game, Danill can become distinctly aware that he is a character in a video game. This also carries over to the second game where you play as Daniil's associate Artemy who is told, distinctively, not to die, and who has harsh repercussions for dying. Canonically, one of these is that if he dies, Artemy is not allowed to hug anyone. People have written fanfiction about how this man cannot hug his children. I know. I know.

Lore wise, death is death and people die and it's treated as a normal thing. Meta wise Daniil is a video game character and he is not allowed to quit until the narrative is done with him.

What are some of their favorite things? Daniil is that capital dandy who dresses in fashionable clothes. Mostly in black with a touch of red so I always assumed those are his favorite colors, kind of his signature. He loves being right about everything. He used to collect Beetles as a kid and I think he likes insects in general and thinks they're neat. In general he loves medicine and intellectual pursuits, he loves reading. This is more of a headcanon but I just think he really likes jam.

Who are some of their favorite people? Dankovsky really isn't one to be attached to or have attachment to many people. With that said, there is a short list. There's Eva Yan, a woman who took him in during the Plague, gave him a place to sleep and live, and showed him kindness. Artemy Burakh is a man whom Daniil has a very complicated relationship with but despite their arguing he also openly gets along with him and many characters comment on how fond Daniil is of Artemy. I also say that he likes Clara and gets along with her even if he doesn't respect her nearly as much as he does Artemy.

And of course, his Parents. Canonically they aren't mentioned much, his Mother not at all and his Father only in passing but I have my headcanons about them. Dankovsky canonically at one point had interest in joining the military and I attribute this interest, in headcanon, saying that Dankovsky's dad was the military man. I headcanon his mom as having passed in his teenage years and having that have taken a massive blow on Dankovsky and having altered the course of his life to focus on medicine instead.

What are they proud of from their life? Dankovsky is most proud of his Bachelors degree, which is a big deal in his soviet russian Capital equivalent where he's from, since a Doctorate would have been out of the question and most people practicing medicine would have had a Bachelors degree like he does. Also, despite the fact that it's now burnt down, he's very proud of the Thanatica still.

What do they dislike? I will come back to this one this one's harder because I feel like everything kind of annoys him... I feel like just in general he's the type of person that if he's not in control of a situation or if it's not being done his way he's kind of in a pissy mood about it. Let me think more on this one tho, I'll come back and edit.

Do they have any enemies, or anyone they particularly hate? I feel like Daniil's default reaction to most people is to dislike or hate them. Telman is absolutely up there as the man who's responsible for the burning of his beloved Thanatica. He both hates and fears Aglaya Lilich, the Inquisitor that comes to the town to deal with the sand plague. This isn't as obvious in Pathologic 2 but in the first game she lies and manipulates him and he hates this.

What are they afraid of? Death. finger guns while walking away.
Also losing everything they've ever accomplished and becoming irrelevant but that's kind of already happened before he died? Oops!

Do they have any regrets from their life? Dankovsky wanted so badly to defeat the plague before his death and he so obviously was in over his head and was not able to do so at all. He wanted to save the Thanatica and that's gone, burnt to a crisp. He wanted to save the Polyhedron but doesn't even know if it was saved at all, and now can't even remember the Polyhedron. And most importantly, I think, is that on his journey of trying to fight death, he forgot how much he values and cares for life.
