HIATUS

If you need to go on hiatus, please fill out the form below and comment to this post with HIATUS in the subject line.

Hiatuses apply for the month they are posted in (though you may forward-date as needed, just make a note in your comment), and exempt you from AC for that month. You may not hiatus for two months in a row, unless you have discussed extenuating circumstances with the mods. If you post a hiatus but make AC anyway, simply submit AC as normal, and the two-month restriction will not apply.

There are two IC options for hiatuses:

• AUTOPILOT — What it sounds like. Characters are simply handwaved as conducting business as usual.


• LOST & FOUND — The setting is a big place, and it's possible for characters to get turned around while exploring. They will spend your hiatus lost somewhere in the setting, and when you return, The Ferryman will have found them and brought them back. We'll include a little lore tidbit for them to have discovered on their ""adventure"".

Dropped characters simply disappear when no one is looking. It's not yet known precisely what happens to them, or where they've gone. But The Ferryman seems confident that they'll be alright, one way or another...

It's easy to get lost along the many, winding walkways above the Marsh, and comparatively difficult to find your way back again. The mist becomes thick, and this branch of the path you've chosen seems to go on forever. There's no way to know how long you've been separated from the others. The light of the Marsh is always dim, and the scenery hardly seems to change.

More visible than anything else, though, even through all this mist, are those same bright orange flowers. They sway in place, as if you are the sun they are constantly seeking to face. Their petals seem almost upturned, as if smiling. Then, they begin to speak:

"Art thou lost, Thara Celehar? Didst thou step the wrong way? Didst thou make the wrong choice?"

It is the same voice, coming from all of them, overlapping in an eerie doppler effect. It is high-pitched, feminine, and laughing.

"I can help! Thou need only ask. What else of thine precious things must thou lose?"

Eventually, though, the voices quiet. The Ferryman emerges from the mist — which itself burns away, as if by their very presence. They hold out their hand.

"Found you. C'mon, kid, it's this way."

Will hopefully still be able make AC, but going to be on vacation a sizable chunk of this month, so just to be safe!

You've been lost a long time, Makoto. The Ferryman has been searching for you — and so have many of your fellow souls.

The Desert was a confusing place, with unpredictable storms and shifting geography. It's not unreasonable to have gotten lost there for a little while, at least. But you were wandering those sands for what could have been weeks, or months, or years; it's always hard to gauge time, now that time has lost some of its meaning.

At some point, you closed your eyes. After that... it's hard to say what, exactly, happened to you. It wasn't like sleeping, not exactly. It was more like dozing, like riding a peaceful current while still maintaining some awareness of the world continuing to move around you. It's quiet, and cool... for the most part.

There is a moment, suspended somewhere in this twilight state, where you hear voices. They're faint, not clear or close enough to make out individual words, but they are unmistakably trying to get your attention or, at minimum, seeking some kind of reply. You can't, though, even though you might want to; you're too heavy, still floating.

When you next open your eyes, you find yourself literally floating: on the still surface of the Marsh. It's as peaceful as any interaction with The River can be, maybe; you aren't deep enough to feel any of the effects of submersion. It's odd; you're a little more buoyant than you strictly should be.

It's only a moment or so later, probably, that the face of The Ferryman appears above you. Their expression doesn't betray much by way of emotion, as always— except, perhaps, for a hint of relief. They pull you back up onto the wooden walkway without much effort at all.

"Hey, kid. Welcome back."

MECHANISM: Lost and found, please! I've been struggling to start tagging again partly because I was stuck about what he might've been up to, and I think a seed for that would help me figure it out.

(If a drop for now makes sense given the lateness in the month, I understand! I'd just prefer to do so formally so I've got the option to poke the TDM soon, at least.)
